November Events Highlighted With Opening of Two New Parks

As we approach the holidays, major food truck events are slowing down, standing locations like Thursday Night at Vitruvian Park have closed and more people are having trucks out for private parties.*

The theme this month is the opening of food truck parks, two to be exact, one in Dallas and one in Fort Worth.  

On Friday, November 2, Dallas' newest truck park opened, along with US Food Truck's Commissary.  The park , called MockAR (pronounced Mocker) is a play on the words Mockingbird and Ambassador Row, where the park is located.  Several of the trucks that plan to use US Food Trucks as a Commissary have been doing lunch service at this location for a couple of weeks and the location is expected to develop easily, as new trucks sign on with the Commissary. 

At the end of November, Clearfork Food Truck Park,  called Colonial Food Truck park during the planning stages, will open in Fort Worth. The park, located at 1541 Merrimac Circle. Several established Fort Worth Trucks including Gepetto's and Fred's Wagon plan to be regular occupants at Clearfork. I will have a full post on this park later in the week. 

Tuesday, November 6 starts the Tasty Tuesday at Sprouts, 11722 Marsh Lane in Dallas.  This event will be the first Tuesday of every month and will feature eight trucks each month. 

Wednesday November 7  Brown bags at The Opera - The Dallas Opera performs noontime recitals outside the Winspear Opera House. Folks can grab a food truck bite and hear an opera star. Please remember there is some one hour, free parking along Flora. Day time $5 to park at the Winspear Red Lexus garage.

Friday, November 9, Hope Cottage Adoption Agency will once again host a Food Truck Extravaganza at their office at 4209 McKinney Avenue in Dallas.  Easy Slider, The Belgian Waffle Co, Jack's Chowhound, and Three Lions will be onsite serving their food and raising money for this great non-profit. 

November 10-11 is a big weekend for DFW trucks, as they head to San Antonio to "Conquer Chiari". As I blogged earlier, this event will be held at the Boardwalk on Bulverde and will help food truck fan Michelle Malpica raise funds to bring awareness and treatment at the terrible illness, Chiari that has drastically impacted her life as well as the lives of others.  

November 10-11, the trucks head to White Rock Lake to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the White Rock Lake Festival, this year's the event is "Tunes and Trucks" and will feature ten trucks and 2 days of music. Saturday, November 24, the food trucks will be in Lake Highlands from 12-5 for a fall festival. 15-20 trucks are expected to be serving, along with Durty Laundry and their music truck. More details will be forthcoming with this event. 

And, the standing weekly events continue.

Every Monday is Monday Night Foodball at Sunnyland Outdoor Furniture  7879 Spring Valley in North Dallas. Each week 8-10 trucks will be set up serving your favorite foods.  In past weeks Sunnyland has offered free cheese and crackers, had KLUV radio station on site playing music and offering discounts on outdoor furniture.

Wednesday night, several locations host food trucks:

Street Food Wednesday is at the Crate &  Barrel at 3104 Knox Street, with 4-5 trucks each week.

The Food Truck Experience is every Wednesday from 6 -9 at Sigel’s at 5757 Greenville Ave in Dallas. Each week, Jacks Chowhound, Ssham BBQ, Rock And Roll Tacos, The Belgian Waffle and Crazy Fish will be serving from 6 - 9.

Food trucks are also in Lake Highlands every Wednesday from 5 – 8, at the Eco-Op Office, 10137A Shoreline Drive. This event is sponsored by U.S. Food Trucks and they will post the line –up of trucks each week.

Camden Design District also hosts trucks on Wednesday nights at 15510 Oak Lawn in Dallas. This event is also hosted by U.S. Food trucks.

Thursday nights:

From 5-8 on Thursday, food trucks are at Camden Farmer’s Market, at 2250 Marilla. This event is sponsored by U.S. Food Trucks.

On Fridays, Cedars Food Truck Park brings you Alfresco Fridays with live music, a local brewery and a weekly rotation of food trucks. Bring the family and enjoy the evening. The list of food trucks each week can be found at http://www.cedarsfoodpark.com/. 

Every Friday Night is  the Payday Block Party at Sigel's at 5757 Greenville Ave in Dallas.   Tutta's Pizza, The Gastro Bomber, Taco Party and My Cupcake Garden will all be serving and Sigel's will be available if you want to pair your food with beer or wine.

Fort Worth Food Truck Park is open on Wednesday nights for dinner and Thursdays - Sundays for lunch and dinner at 2509 Weisenberger Drive in Fort Worth.. You can find their schedule of trucks at www.fwfoodpark.com.

New Local Market Pops Up at Good Records

New Local Market Pops Up at Good Records

Dallas October 30, 2012 - Good Records has partnered with the Deep Ellum Outdoor Market to bring the Good Local Market to Lowest Greenville on Saturday November 3rd from 10am to 4pm at the Greenville Avenue record shop. The event aims to not only promote Good Records and local shopping but also bring more people to the neighborhood.

The Good Local Market is scheduled for this Saturday and also December 1st of 2012. If it proves successful, the event may continue into next year on the first Saturday of the month.

Good Records' parking lot will be full of local vendors and and food trucks. Vendors will feature handmade products ranging from shirts to jewelry to kids' toys as well as vintage clothes and craft foods. The Market will also have newcomer to the Dallas gourmet food truck scene: Yellow Belly, who specializes in the yellow tomato.

MockAR Food Truck Park Grand Opening

On Friday, November 2, after months of planning Dallas' first permanent, full time food truck park, and newest Commissary will open.  MockAR will be at 7508 Ambassador Row, just off 35 & Mockingbird.  The Grand Opening will be from from 4-8 on Friday with a Food Truck Happy Hour, complete with free beer and food trucks.

The public is invited to come out and celebrate this opening and see what MockAR is all about.
