Outdoor Market Pops Up in Design District

Dallas 9/19/12 - On October 4, 2012, Deep Ellum Outdoor Market and Jim Lake Companies are teaming up to host the Design District Market, closing down Cole St. between Dragon and Slocum to make way for street vendors, live music, food trucks, activities and local beer. The event is free and open to the public, with food, beverages and merchandise available for purchase.

The Design District Market will be the first installment of a potentially recurring neighborhood festivity.

The market will take place Thursday evening, from 5 to 10 p.m., and aims to give people unfamiliar with the area a glimpse of the rich culture distinctive to the district, while at the same time giving those already living and working in the area a reason to celebrate it.

Though more details will follow, food trucks at the event include The Butcher’s Son, Easy Slider Truck, The Belgian Waffle Co., Rockstar Bakeshop and Cajun Tailgators, and beer will be supplied from Peticolas, Lakewood and Deep Ellum Brewing Companies. Local sponsors include Trinity Capital Bank and Yelp Dallas.

Vendors will feature local handmade artists and artisans as well as shops, designers and vintage dealers from around the Design District. We’ll also have a kids’ area, photo booth, and other activities that will be announced as the event approaches.

The Mega Food Truck At The State Fair of Texas

On September 28, the State Fair of Texas opens, with all the rides, food and fun that people from all over the State of Texas have come to expect each year. For those who love food trucks or those who prefer not participate in the excessiveness of fried food, this year’s State Fair brings something new and tasty.

The “Mega Truck” a mashup of the healthy  style of Good Karma Kitchen and the creativity of SlushWorks comes together in one truck, serving inside the Food & Fiber Pavilion.

The Mega Truck will be operating the entire run of the Fair, as the centerpiece of the Go Texan booth. SlushWorks will be serving Texas themed slushes and Good Karma Kitchen will be dishing up their gluten free dishes, including new menu items being introduced at the Fair.

During the run at the Fair, Good Karma Kitchen will operate their own truck on a limited basis, including service at Cedars Food Park, special events and previously scheduled private lunches. SlushWorks will only be serving at the Fair.

I am so excited that these two trucks will be the first food truck operating inside the State Fair and cannot wait to see what delicious food and drink they serve and how the crowd of 1.5 million that cross through the Food & Fiber Pavilion receive The Mega Truck.
