Four Weeks - Eight Trucks: Its Food Truck October in DFW

With the cool weather, it seems that more trucks are ready to roll out on the streets of DFW. By the end of October, licensing and wrap teams ready, there should be eight new trucks on the streets of DFW.

Lee's Grilled Cheese - Lee's Grilled Cheese rolled out in Fort Worth on October 3. A grilled cheese trailer with a speciality called "The Back Breaker" consisting of melted cheddar, mac 'n cheese and grilled pork, just tell you that this isn't a standard grilled cheese truck. Lee's Grilled Cheese can be found at 1311 W. Magnolia in Fort Worth on Mondays and Thursdays evenings. Starting soon they will also be working the UNT campus during the day. Follow Lee's Grilled Cheese on Facebook and Twitter for more information.

The Butcher's Son - A joint venture between Johnsonville Sausage and Pool Restaurant Group, The Butcher's Son brought out their first of two DFW based trucks on October 5. The Butcher's Son will serve breakfast, lunch, dinner and late night bites across the Metroplex. The extensive menu includes brats, stuffed bell pepper, side items such as lime fries and dessert of cake pops or Black Gold, The Butcher's Son's version of fried oreos. Follow The Butcher's Son on Facebook and Twitter for more details.

Cup Cakin - The Cup Cake Machine expects to be on the road the weekend of October 8. This cupcake truck, based in Dallas has a variety of cupcake flavors to offer including buttermilk bacon, chocolate peanut butter, pumpkin carrot, S'mores, and several others, including traditional chocolate and vanilla. You can see Cup Cakin's Menu and get more information on Facebook and Twitter.

Antojitos Cali - Mex- Plans a soft roll out on October 6. Owned by a California transplant, Antojitos will offer traditional California tacos, quesadillas, fish tacos and California style hot dogs. Antojitos will be based in Fort Worth. Follow Antojitos on Facebook and Twitter to find out where they will be located.

So-Cal Tacos- After months of telling us "its a process, not an event", So-Cal's opening day event is approaching. Specializing in the flavors of Southern California, Scott, the owner is bringing DFW fish tacos, burritos and some of the most flavorful salsa I have ever had. So-Cal will be based in Fort Worth but has already announced plans to serve in Grapevine and Keller as well. You can follow So-Cal on Facebook and Twitter to find out their opening day plans.

Jackalope Mobile Kitchen - Alex, the owner of Jackalope Mobile Kitchen brings Chicago restaurant credibility to the streets of Dallas with his Vegan mobile kitchen. Jackalope has been using Kickstarter.com to raise the last funds necessary to finish out their truck and plans to be on the road in mid-October. So far, menu hints show meatless sandwiches which look quite tasty. Jackalope's first event will be the Food Truck Showdown on October 23. Follow Jackalope's progress in rolling out on Facebook and Twitter.

Gepetto's Pizza - The first pizza food truck will be hitting the streets of Fort Worth in late October. Gepetto's is in the final stages of wrapping the truck and finalizing their menu. Starting this weekend, Gepettos will be publicizing details about their menu and opening day schedule on Facebook.

Good Karma Kitchen - By the end of October, gluten intolerant people will no longer have to wonder if food trucks are safe for them. Good Karma will be the Metroplex's first exclusively gluten free food truck and will also be all vegetarian. The truck is in its build out stage right now, pictures are being posted on the truck designer's website, www.cruisingkitchens.com. The ladies who own Good Karma are finalizing menus and slowly releasing details, once the flavors are perfected. Good Karma will be based in Forth Worth. You can follow the building of the truck and find out all the details about their grand opening on Facebook or Twitter.

October has always been my favorite month but October 2011 is setting up to be the best October ever in DFW.  Its going to be so nice to sit out in the cool fall air at one of the many trucks in DFW and enjoy tasty food and beautiful weather.

The Butcher's Son is Rolling Out With All Kinds of Opening Week Specials!

On Wednesday, after seeing menu items, contests to name items and lots of chatter, we finally get to dine at The Butcher's Son.

The truck is rolling out with a menu featuring high-quality Johnsonville Sausage serving breakfast, lunch, dinner and late night bites, which sounds good to me. But, I'm getting the impression that The Butchers Son doesn't want to just be "good", so they are taking things to the next level with daily specials for early arriving customers. If you plan well, you could eat free at least once Wednesday through Saturday and score deals for months to come. And that's a lot better than "good".
